The climate is Mediterranean on the coast and continental in the north of Italy. Spring and autumn are mild and often rainy. In the north of Italy summers are hot and dry and the winters cold. On the coast winters are mild and the summers are sunny and very hot with temperatures reaching over 40° C in some areas.
Best time to travel to Italy is from April to June. July and August can be excessively hot and full of tourists. Autumn and winter can be too cold especially in the north.
