Suggested itinerary: Namibia & Botswana in 19 days for independent travellers

Day 1: Arrival in Whindoek

Arrival at Whindoek International Airport. Transfer to hotel. Walk through the city centre. Night in Whindoek. 

Day 2: From Whindoek to Sesriem

Pick up rental 4WD car. Road trip from Whindoek to Sesriem going through the famous Kalahari Desert and the Namib Desert. Night in Sesriem. 

Day 3: Sossusvlei

Sunrise on Sossusvlei dunes, the highest dunes in the World. Visit to Death Vlei, a dead lake plenty of impactful petrified trees. Visit to the Sesriem Canyon. Night in Solitaire. 

Day 4: Swakopmund

Road trip to Swakopmund crossing the Namib-Naukluft National Park. Stop at the so called Moon Landscape. Night in Swakopmund. 

Day 5: Walvis Bay

Journey to Walvis Bay, to watch dolphins (august-october) or do kayaking in the lagoon. Back in Swakopmund, "dune surfing" in the desert. Sunset on the dunes. Night in Swakopmund. 

Day 6: Twyfelfontein

Road trip along the isolated Skeleton Coast, so called because of the many ship wrecks in the area. Visit to Twyfelfontein prehistoric rock engravings. Night in Twyfelfontein. 

Day 7: From Twyfelfontein to Etosha Park

Visit to the Petrified Forrest, the Burn Mountain and the Organ Pipes. Trip to Etosha National Park, where the safari starts. Nigh in Okakuejo. 

Day 8: Etosha Park

Game drive from Okaukejo to Halali. This sector is plenty of antelopes, zebras and elephants. With a little luck, you will see lions and rhinos. Night in Halali. 

Day 9: Etosha Park

Game drive from Halali y Namutoni. This sector is plenty of giraffes and lions can be seen around the waterholes. Transfer to Grootfontein, where Hoba Meteorit is, one of the biggest and most peculiar ones of its kind. Night in Grootfontein. 

Day 10: Caprivi Strip

Trip to Caprivi Strip, the Namibia sector that gets into Botswana and Angola. Visit to Popa Falls. Night in Popa Falls. 

Day 11: Kavango River

Rafting in the Kavango River, enjoying the Amazing landscape and the excitement of the rapids. Night in Popa Falls. 

Day 12: Maun

Trip road from Popa Falls to Maun, crossing the border between Namibia and Botswana. Night in Maun. 

Day 13: Okawango Delta

Mokoro Safari (canoe) through the Okavango Delta, where elephants, hippos and crocodiles can be seen. Night in Maun. 

Day 14: Moremi Game Reseve

Game drive through Moremi Game Reserve, going from the Third Bridge to the North Gate: a great 4WD adventure. Night in the North Gate Campsite. 

Day 15: Chobe National Park

Game drive through Chobe National Park, crossing from Moremi North Gate to Savute. Night in Savute. 

Day 16: Chobe River Front

Game drive along Chobe Riverfront. You will see, very close to your car, elephants, antelopes, crocs, bulls and hippos. Night in Kasane. 

Day 17: Victoria Falls

Transfer from Kasane to Victoria Falls crossing the Botswana – Zimbabwe border. Night visit to Victoria Falls (in case of full moon). Night in Victoria Falls. 

Day 18: Victoria Falls

Visit to Victoria Falls, an extraordinary view to the narrow abysm in which the river waters fall. They are known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya (the thundering smoke). Night in Victoria Falls. 

Day 19: Flight back home

Drop off rental car at the Victoria Falls airport. Flight back home.
