Suggested itinerary: 36 plans with kids in Taipei

Day 1: Huashan Creative Park

This day we suggest you spend the day at Huashan 1914 Creative Park, our favorite place in Taipei. On weekends it is super set and something is always going on. Right next door you have the fantastic Central Art Park, where children can have fun outdoors for a couple of hours. And you cannot miss the Wooderful Life indoor park, which makes children and adults fall in love.

Day 2: Maji Square

This day we propose a plan that our children love. In the morning, go to see the temples of Confucius and Dalongdong Baoan, two of the most beautiful and interesting in Taipei. Then take a walk to the lively Maji Square, where you can eat in one of its restaurants or its food court. And end the afternoon playing in the fun park of the Expo Hall.

Day 3: Shifen

Shifen's waterfalls are among the most beautiful in Taiwan, and can be reached by doing a simple hike. In the town, you can throw one of the famous lanterns into the sky and also see how the train crosses the middle of the village.

Day 4: Sandiaoling Waterfall Trail

Today is adventure day. Pack a picnic, put on your hiking boots and hit this trail through the jungle. The hanging bridges leading to the waterfalls will delight the kids. At the end, as a prize you can have a coffee, cake or beer in one of the cutest cafes in all of Taiwan, in the charming town of Sandiaoling.

Day 5: Cycling through Dajia River

For today we recommend you to prepare a picnic and go pedaling along the Dajia river. Start with a stop at the gigantic playground, where you have slides, zip line, swings, and even a water splash park to soak in summer. Then continue pedaling and cross to Xinsheng Park, where in addition to visiting the beautiful Lin Ai Tai house, you can get lost in the labyrinth of the park and see how the planes skim past your heads.

Day 6: New Taipei Metropolitan Park

This day we recommend you go to the spectacular New Taipei Metropolitan Park. A public park that has a whole area of giant slides, zip lines, climbing areas, trampolines... like an amusement park but free. You can also ride a bike along the Riverside, where they can see goats and even feed them.

Day 7: Pingxi District

The Pingxi district has several towns and trails that lead to 2 or 3 day excursions from Taipei. For this day, we recommend you do the path that connects the Wanggu waterfalls with those of Lingjiao, and then visit the towns of Pingxi and Jington, where in addition to throwing the classic sky lanterns, you can eat something in their Old Street.

Day 8: Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall

A part of it beauty, Children love to watch the changing of the guard, and run around the surrounding gardens, where they can see turtles, ducks and giant fish. In the afternoon, go to the Peace Park playground. And if you still have the strength, from there to Ximending.

Day 9: Bitan

One of our favorite places in New Taipei. You can canoe on the river, ride a bike, go to a bike park, go to the pool and eat with incredible views of the river.

Day 10: Wuji Tianyuan Temple

It is our favorite place to see cherry blossoms in Taipei. Save this plan for the first sunny weekend in the cherry blossom season. In the area there are also very cute restaurants, and you can end up watching the sunset in Tamsui.

Day 11: Erziping

Erziping is one of the most famous areas in Yanmingshan National Park. Prepare a picnic to eat in its pleasant meadow, and be ready to see the crater of a volcano a few meters away. To top off the day, pick up some flowers in Zhuzihu and have a coffee with views of the volcano.

Day 12: Quingtiangang Grassland

Quingtiangang Grassland is perhaps the most popular of the trails in Yangmingshan National Park. Children love it because there are buffaloes along the way, and grown ups love the views of the city and the mountains.

Day 13: Taipei 101

Today we recommend you go up to Taipei 101, a plan that all children love. Start the day with brunch in the interesting Xinyi Assembly Hall, then go up the tower and in the afternoon take a walk through the lively Xinyi Wei Xiu Shopping District.

Day 14: Maokong Gondola

This day we recommend you go up to Maokong in its famous gondola. Make sure you come on a clear day, because the views of the city and 101 are beautiful. Once up, the typical thing is to go to a tea shop  although you can also do some hikking.

Day 15: Yinhe Cave

Built in a cave under a waterfall, Yinhe Cave Temple is one of the most picturesque temples in all of Taiwan. You can climb there directly (about 30min of stairs) or combine it with the Maokong Gondola, taking a 1-2 hour walk through the forest and enjoying the views of the city and 101.

Day 16: Beitou

Ideal plan for a day that is not too hot (even better if it is cool). We recommend you go to one of the hotels that have outdoor thermal baths. And then visit the Thermal Valley and walk through the Beitou Park, where you can see the Hot Spring Museum, the beautiful Public Library and the Historic Train Station.

Day 17: Wulai

Just 1h from Taipei is this beautiful town, where you can walk to some waterfalls, eat in its old street, take the cable car to a small amusement park and bathe in hot springs. A great plan for Saturday or Sunday.

Day 18: Jian Guo Flower Market

Super plan for Saturday or Sunday. Start with a walk through the beautiful Jian Guo Weekend Flower Market, stop at Daan Park to play in its huge playground, go to eat at Din Tai Fung and end up walking and having a drink in Yongkang street.

Day 19: Jiantanshan Trail

This is a plan for an afternoon, if possible that the weather is good, because the views are spectacular. This trail takes you through the forest of one of the Taipei mountains, passing through various viewpoints with spectacular views of the city. On the way back, you can watch the sunset over the city of Taipei. A marvel. From here you can go to dinner at the lively Shilin Market.

Day 20: Zhongshan Boulevard

This street has a whole central pedestrian area, which makes it super pleasant to walk with children. Around, lots of cute shops and restaurants. Nearby you have the contemporary art museum and a public library, perfect for a full day.

Day 21: Songshan Cultural Park

Today we recommend you go to this original Creative Park where you can have a picnic in its gardens. In the afternoon, have some churros, visit the Sun Yat Sen Memorial and take spectacular photos of Taipei 101. Finish the day with a meal at the famous Aunt Su's pizza house.

Day 22: Banqiao

Today you can approach this district of New Taipei City, super easily accessible by subway. At Christmas, it's super lively, with Christmasland and lots of activities around the park. But at any time of the year it is also very nice to go visit the Lin Family Mansion and Garden and Banqiao 435 Art Zone, a creative park that houses the Taiwan Toy Museum.

Day 23: Tamsui

There is nothing more Taiwanese than going to Tamsui to spend the day. Locals love to go to this little town at the mouth of the river, stroll along the river side and eat in its old street. It is also great for cycling, although sometimes on the weekends it is too crowded. And also very nice to go see the sunset.

Day 24: Children Amusement Park

If it's cloudy but not raining, you can go to the Taipei Amusement Park. Not that it's great, but the kids have a good time. The problem is that on the weekends there are endless lines. If for any reason you have a day off during the week, it is the ideal time to go.

Day 25: Science Museum

National Taiwan Science Education Center is a huge science museum, with tons of exhibits and activities for children. You can spend there all day, and then combine it with the Meilun park where children can run outdoors.

Day 26: Astronomical Museum

Taipei has a very interesting Astronomy Museum that children really like. We suggest you spend the day at the museum and if the weather is good, then go to Meilun Park, where they can run and have fun. The museum is quite large and has different activities such as cinema, planetarium...

Day 27: National Taiwan Museum and Peace Park

This day we recommend you go to the National Taiwan Museum, and more specifically, to the Land Bank Exhibition Hall, that has a children exhibition where theycan learn about the evolution of species and hallucinate with the gigantic dinosaur skeletons. When you're done, you can go to the beautiful 2/28 Peace Park, where children can play in its playground.

Day 28: Kids Awesome

This is a good plan to spend a rainy day. It is a bit expensive for what is the truth, but the children have a good time. On the ground floor they have a very cute cafeteria for parents.

Day 29: Austin Land

It is a bit expensive but the truth is that it is amazing and the children enjoy it a lot. In addition, you can take the opportunity to eat at the famous Xiang Duck restaurant, which is in the same shopping center and offers the best Beijing Duck in town. If it's Christmas, you can combine it with a visit to Christmas Land. At Christmas, there is a great atmosphere throughout that area.

Day 30: ATT 4 Recharge

ATT 4 Recharge is a shopping center in Neihu, which is full of things for children. An ideal plan for a rainy day. You have from playgrounds for all ages to workshops to make crafts, electric cars... If when you go out it is not raining, you can combine it with the Miramar Ferris Wheel.

Day 31: Xisheng Huanbao Riverside Park

Today we propose you to cycle along the river bank until you get to a model airplanes airport, where you can see them fly. This is an interesting plan for a day that is neither very cold nor very hot, and if possible cloudy (because there is not much shade).

Day 32: Yehliu Geopark

Today you can go see the wonderful rock formations of the Yehliu Geopark. Disconnect from the city, connect with the sea and eat delicious fish. A great plan! Better if you can go by car, although you can also get there by public transport.

Day 33: Dolphins in Turtle Island

Today we suggest you go to see dolphins at Turtle Island (Guishan Island), this is an ideal plan for the summer months (July and August), when the sea is calmer, although dolphins and whales can be spotted from April to October. Complete the plan by visiting the Lanyang museum, which children love.

Day 34: Keelung

In Keelung you can walk through the Heping Island geological park, where in summer you can also swim. Then you can go for fresh fish in one of the traditional restaurants and stroll through the Zhongzheng Park with its gigantic Guanyin statue. If you still have the strength, you can have a bite at the night market.

Day 35: To the swimming pool!

Taipei is extremely hot in the summer. You will not be better anywhere than in a pool. We indicate the 8 best public pools in Taipei to go with children so that you can try them all.

Day 36: Old Caoling Tunnel

Today we suggest you take the train to Fulong and there rent a bike to go through the old Caoling tunnel. This old tunnel through which the train tracks passed is quite long, and in the end, you arrive to the sea. You can complement this plan with a visit to Fulong Beach.
