Gyeongju Seokguram Grotto:

Gyeongju Seokguram Grotto

Brief description: Seokguram Grotto is an artificial cave-temple that contains a granite Buddha sculpted from 751. Although the temple is not worth it, the Buddha is better than it seems on the outside (although not wonderful :-) and the views from there are incredible. The bus and the path that come from Bulguksa, will leave you where the gigantic Bell of Mercy is, which you can ring by paying a donation of 1,000W (very fun for children!). From here, there is a 650m trail to the cave. If you have not time or you do not like trekking at all, this is a visit that you can skip.

Duration of the visit: 1h, 2h if you are walking from Bulguksa.

Hours: 07.00-17.00 (until 18.00 from Mar-Sep).

Cost: 5.000W over 19 years old, 3.500W 13-18 years old, 2.000W 7-12 years old, free under 7 years old.

How to get there: take bus 12 at the stop on the road, near the main entrance of the Bulguksa Temple (15min by winding road, exits 08.40, 09.40, 10.40, 11.40, 12.50, 13.40, 14.40, 15.40, 16.40 , 17.20). There is also a stop below, where parking is. It is on the road, just before where the 10-11 bus that comes from Gyeongju leaves you (opposite to the information building). If you have left the temple from behind and have flown down to the parking lot, this is your stop. If you prefer, you can do a 2.5km trekking from behind the main gate of Bulguksa, climbing up the mountain. It will take approximately 1h. To return, you can either walk down the path to Bulguksa (2.5km, 45min), or take bus 12 to the Bulguksa stop and then take bus 10 or 11 to Gyeongju.
