Deoksugung Palace:

Deoksugung Palace

Brief description: Deoksugung is another of the 5 palaces built and inhabited by the Joseon dynasty. Like the other palaces in the city, it was intentionally destroyed during the Japanese occupation and only one third of the original structures have been preserved. The particularity of this palace is the mix of styles and building materials, ranging from stone, painted wood and stucco. Some of the buildings are western style, as is the central garden and fountain. All this makes it very different from the rest of the city's palaces. Another of the particularities of this palace is the Royal Guard Change Ceremony, at the Daehanmun door, which takes place at 11.00, 14.00 and 15.30. If you are tired of seeing palaces, you can simply come to the change of the guard that is seen from outside, and not pay for the entrance.
