Touring Gangnam district:

Starfield Library

World-wide known for the PSY song "Gangnam Style", this neighborhood located south of the Han River is the epicenter of Korean fashion and new trends. It is the place where new technology companies are installed, the famous start ups ... and the most coveted place to live for the new rich Koreans. Sown with modern skyscrapers and designer stores that range from the most prestigious firms to innovative alternative brands, we propose this route to see the best of Gangnam in one afternoon. The neighborhood is huge, so you will have to alternate metro, bus and feet.

  • Take the subway and get off at the Gangnam Station, exit 6 or 7. As soon as you get to the surface, you will see the atmosphere that this neighborhood has. Have a walk in this area, full of clothing and cosmetics stores, as well as nice coffee shops.
  • Take the subway again at Gangnam station, and get off 3 stops later in Samseong, exit 6. You will have in front of you the famous COEX center, so big that they say it can host 14 Olympic stadiums! There are shops and restaurants of all kinds, a convention center, an aquarium, a museum ... it even has an airport terminal! But what is really worth seeing in this mall is the Starfield Library, where books seem to touch the sky. If you walk from the subway station, pass the Teureideu Tower (after the Starbucks), turn left through the inner square and on the right you will find an entrance to the library by the top floor.
  • When you get tired of COEX and its library, go outside, cross the great Yeongdong-daero avenue and take bus 143, 301, 362 or 4318 northwards.
  • At the end of the street the bus will turn left, and a little later, it will turn right. You will be entering Apgujeong-ro, something like the Rodeo Drive in Seoul
  • Just when this street begins to curve to the left, you will see on your right the impressive Chungha Building, whose windows look like unstructured panels.
  • Get off one stop later and continue walking in the direction the bus was going until you reach the famous K-Star Road, which is like the Hollywood walk of fame but for Korean pop singers.
  • If you walk along this street and those to its south, you will by amazed not only with the amount of luxury stores, but also with plastic surgery centers (the K phenomenon is accompanied by cravings for beauty and perfection).
  • After the Apgujeongrodeo metro stop, take any bus that follows this street to the west and get off at Sinsa School. Across the street you will have the famous Sinsadong Garosu-gil road, full of fashion stores. It is worth doing the main street but also the two parallels.
