Visit to Miyajima Island:

Isla Miyajima

  • Brief description:small island on the outskirts of Hiroshima, most famous for its large Japanese-style gate (O-Torii), which appears to float on the water. Temples can be visited and a pleasant walk may be taken along its numerous paths.

  • Observation: do not forget to pick up a map of the island when you arrive at the ferry terminal.
  • How to get there: take tram No. 2, No. 6 or No.7 to Hiroshima station from behind the Atomic Bomb Dome. If you have enough time, you can also take the Sightseeing Loop Bus, which is included in your JRP and will leave you at Hiroshima Station taking a more scenic route. Then take the Sanyo Line to Mijayima-Guchi station. Leave the station and walk 300 metres ahead to the Ferry terminal. Take the first ferry to leave. Cost of tram: 160¥. The train and ferry are covered by the JRP (reservation unnecessary, if you don't have JRP, just buy the tickets in the station, they are quite unexpensive). Duration of trip: 1 hr 15 min. from Memorial Park to the island.
