Visit to Yoyogi Park (try to go on a Sunday):

Parque Yoyogi

  • Brief description: one of Tokyo's most famous parks, not only for its vegetation, but also for the different urban tribes that hang out there and the other cultural rituals on show. It is best to go on a Sunday, when the atmosphere is livelier. First, visit the Meiji temple, which is a very popular and lively site often used for Japanese weddings (very curious spectacles!). Then head for the park's southern zone (preferably go outside the park), where young people from all the urban tribes meet and play live music. It is best in the morning, although not too early.
  • Duration of visit: 2 hrs.
  • Cost: free.
  • How to get there: take the Yamamote line and get off at Harajuku (20 min. by train and covered by the JRP (200¥ without JRP). It is also possible to arrive by metro: Meiji-jingumae stop, lines Chiyoda and Fukutoshin.
