Visit Lucca:

Lucca

  • Brief description: a few kilometres from Pisa is Lucca, a beautiful Roman town in which you can find innumerable examples of Romanic, Medieval and Renaissance architecture. The city walls, the churches (Duomo di San Martino, Iglesia de San Miguel) and the squares (Piazza dell'Anfiteatro) are all outstanding. If you feel like a bite to eat, try a slice of pizza from the Pizzeria da Felice (at the junction of via Buia with Via del Moro). It is the oldest pizzeria in the city and heavily frequented by the locals (5€ slice of pizza + soft drink).
  • How to get there: 30min (30km) from Pisa. It is well signposted (there are two ways but they take more or less the same, it´s just that one is along the motorway A11 (3.75€ toll) and the other is by the toll-free local road, the SS12.
